Fortresse Swartsluys was the old name for Zwartsluis in Overijssel. As early as 1398 was the first mention of the village. The shield of Zwartsluis is red and white blocked, which returns in this design. Near the village is a lot of water; Het Zwarte Water and Meppeler Diep. The blocks from the shield pattern merge to waves at the other end of the shawl. This rectangle shawl is worn so the open lace pointed edging at the bottom is fully visible. The shade of this lovely silk yarn, 100% Mulberry Silk, gives is a nice shine and makes it drape beautifully.
BUT.... even if you don't live there, it is still a very pretty shawl to practise your lace skills.
